Today, several retail outlets have slashed prices to brand-new all-time lows for gaming storage solutions. Microsoft has officially announced these promotions via their Twitter account, showcasing significant savings for gamers looking to enhance their storage options. As of this Friday, the pricing for the Expansion Cards starts at just $90 for the 512GB model, while the larger 1TB and 2TB versions are priced at $150 and $280, respectively. This represents a remarkable 32% and 30% discount from their original prices of $220 and $280.
While it is valid to argue that Microsoft’s proprietary storage solution for the Xbox Series X and Series S still carries a hefty price tag, the introduction of permanent price reductions marks a positive trend for the company’s latest gaming consoles. This initiative indicates that the Expansion Cards will become more affordable in future sales, aligning their prices closer to standard NVMe drives available on the market. Furthermore, there may be additional price drops on the horizon. Back in April, Best Buy featured a 1TB expansion card from Western Digital at a suggested retail price of $180, which was already higher than Seagate’s 1TB model. Increased competition in the market could lead to even lower prices for consumers.
