The coffin bearers on the Queen’s funeral are from a unit of which the late monarch was Firm Commander.
Troopers from the Queen’s Firm, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, had been chosen to carry the coffin in the course of the service at Westminster Abbey and Windsor Citadel.
Though a senior officer took day-to-day management, the previous sovereign’s connection together with her males was robust, and so they paid tribute to her in the course of the service.
The Queen’s Firm retained its title up till the monarch was laid to relaxation, and can later change to mirror the brand new King.
Main Adrian Weale, a former British Military soldier, advised the PA information company: “They grew to become the Queen’s Firm instantly after the dying of George VI and the Queen has been commander ever since.
“It is their function to guard her physique, each in life and in dying, remaining the Queen’s Firm till King Charles decides in any other case.
“Their duties will then be transitioned to the subsequent monarch.”
