ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Snortford is getting used to life as a 29 year old. Last weekend, the fly river turtle celebrated his birthday surrounded by staff and guests at the Via Aquarium.
During the celebrations, he was presented with a birthday cake made of ice, tomatoes and fish, all of his favorites! Also known as a pig-nosed turtle, Snortford is originally from Canada. When he’s not being the center of attention, he enjoys getting his back rubbed.
“If you’re standing next to a tank for a short period of time he will kind of swim up towards you and then he’ll do his little flipper hi,” said Randolph Duncan, a reptile keeper at Via Aquarium.
