VESTAL, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – The First Ward Action Council has completed another new, multi-generational, affordable housing development in Vestal.
The Vestal Chateau Apartments opened today, and features a 24 unit building for residents 55 years and older, plus a 6 unit townhouse for families.
20 units are single bedrooms apartments and 10 of them have two bedrooms.
Monthly rent ranges from 529 dollars to 768 dollars including heat, water, sewer, and wifi.
Each unit includes a modern kitchen, bathroom, and energy efficient heating systems.
Seven units are tailored for mobility impaired people, two for those with hearing or vision impairments, and five for fragile seniors.
The apartments in the Vestal Chateau are reserved for households earning up to 60 percent of the area median income.
The construction cost over 11 million dollars with funding from Low Income Housing Tax Credits and New York State Homes and Community Renewal.
