For anyone who has ever cheered for the New York Jets, this season presents an unparalleled opportunity to rally around the team and its dedicated staff. It’s time to revive the spirit of the franchise, much like the legendary Fireman Ed. This year stands out more than any other since the days of Broadway Joe; it’s truly the year to passionately support the gangrene and celebrate what could be a remarkable turnaround for the team.
Get absolutely excited about the upcoming season! Unleash your creativity and envision the possibilities: an AFC Championship game? A Super Bowl appearance? Perhaps a grand ticker-tape parade in the Canyon of Heroes? These dreams are within reach, and if you can imagine it, then it’s not just wishful thinking. It might sound overly enthusiastic, but I genuinely believe that this could be the Jets’ time. The franchise has faced challenges similar to the Browns, but with the possibility of having a Hall of Fame quarterback in their prime, who knows when they might experience this again? Understandably, Cleveland fans are frustrated with the media’s reluctance to let them savor their success.
And that’s my sentiment regarding Jets fans. What’s wrong with allowing them to enjoy this ride? Everyone deserves to experience the emotional highs and lows of being a fan, and it’s finally the Jets’ turn to shine. Last season wasn’t disastrous by the Jets’ historical standards, and now with the addition of Dalvin Cook, there’s renewed hope. Breece Hall is making a remarkable comeback less than ten months after tearing his ACL, showcasing his determination and urgency to contribute to the team’s success.
With Aaron Rodgers at the helm, the Jets have a formidable target in Garrett Wilson, along with seasoned players like Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard. There’s no need to worry about the offensive line; that’s the responsibility of head coach Robert Saleh, who is actively working to strengthen it. As seen on Hard Knocks, he understands that “the big boys up front change who we are as a team.”
Could it be that HBO’s expertly crafted montages are the best representation of the Jets we’ll see all season? Perhaps, but that doesn’t matter. This is their year! While it may not culminate in hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, that’s a minor detail in the grand scheme of things.
Mike Greenberg hasn’t experienced this level of joy since he parted ways with Golic, and the coverage of the Jets is bound to be extensive. The NFL and its media partners are doing everything imaginable to showcase the team, providing fans with an intimate perspective that feels more personal than any darkness retreat with A-Rodg.
If I were a fan of the Jets, I would be irrationally excited for the upcoming season. Bring in the spectacle—magicians, light shows, dancers, celebrities, and everything that embodies the essence of Namath. Let’s turn the excitement up to eleven!
“IT’S UP TO YOU, NEW YORK, NEW YOOOORRRRRKKKKKK!”
What do the Giants have to offer? A quarterback named Danny Dimes and a caricature of a football coach? Mac Jones hasn’t proven himself, Buffalo might as well be in Canada, and Miami’s quarterback looks like he’s on the brink of retirement.
“J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!”
Last season, the defense was aggressive, and with Sauce Gardner now set to play with a lead, the dynamics have shifted significantly. Goodbye, Zach Wilson. Farewell, Mike White. And hey, Joe Flacco, it’s time to step aside. The Jets have a four-time league MVP in town, rejuvenated and ready to light up the AFC.
“AAR-ON ROD-GERS!” DU-DU-d-d-DU “AAR-ON RODGERS!”
Can you imagine how quickly the MVP chants will echo throughout MetLife Stadium? If not in Week 1, certainly by Week 4. In their first eight games, the Jets face off against tough opponents—Buffalo, at Dallas, New England, Kansas City, at Denver, Philly, at Giants, and the Chargers. There’s a real chance to defeat six playoff teams, including formidable coaches like Bill Belichick and Sean Payton, along with last season’s Super Bowl winner and runner-up.
This journey is not just about the experience; it’s about reaching the destination. That destination, my fellow Jets fans, is Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII. There’s no way this ends in disappointment, tears, or despair. Divine forces are with you—God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Buddha, Allah, Aaron Rodgers, and his collection of mood crystals are all supporting you.
JETS FOOTBALL, BABY! (This may be borderline reckless enthusiasm, but let’s go!) LET’S FUCKING GO!
