NEW BERLIN, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Unadilla Valley Sports Center has a lot to celebrate this weekend as it welcomes over a hundred athletes for a thrilling race.
Unadilla MX is hosting the Elf Fuels and Lubricants Unadilla Pro National on Saturday. The competition serves as Round 9 of the 2024 Pro Motocross Championship.
In addition to the race, the sports center is also celebrating its 55th anniversary.
Since its grand opening in 1969, the center has become a pillar for the community and racing lovers across the globe.
It is one of only 11 racing facilities in the country.
President Greg Robinson says the sport has evolved over time but the love and support from fans continues to be overwhelming.
He says although it can be challenging at times, it is very special to know how much the track means to people.
“It’s a huge part of the community but we also have a lot of fans and it’s special to them too. Like I said it’s humbling to think that you’re involved in something that means that much to people. So, it’s an honor but a responsibility as well,” said Robinson.
Robinson says Saturday will be a full day of action. He says the energy will be electric and you won’t want to miss it.
The race will begin 12:30 with opening ceremonies. It will occur rain or shine.
