JOHNSON CITY, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – UHS is celebrating greater than a half century of getting ready household docs to follow medication.
Wilson Hospital started its household medication residency program in 1971, and since then has graduated over 350 docs.
Between 75 and 100 of them have stayed in our area for not less than some period of time.
The three 12 months program accepts 9 new residents annually for a complete of 27.
They spend time training medication within the hospitals and outpatient settings underneath the steerage of college and attending physicians.
Physician Daniel Younger is the Program Director and himself a graduate of the residency in 1991.
Younger mentioned, “That hands-on work for 3 years is admittedly why the household doctor, once they get accomplished with residency, is an skilled physician able to exit and follow.”
Younger mentioned that the residency program helps to maintain the remainder of the physicians on their toes as they’ve to show and mentor the residents on the most recent strategies and know-how.
UHS is holding a gathering of graduates this weekend, which was delayed by a 12 months as a result of pandemic.
