BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – M&T Bank donated $30,000 to 30 different organizations to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The bank’s 30 and 30 giving initiative commemorates the 30th anniversary of the M&T Charitable Foundation.
The foundation donated to organizations across its footprint that are fighting homelessness and developing affordable housing.
In the Southern Tier, the bank donated to Metro Interfaith Housing Management, which provides home buyer education, and services for the homeless.
Metro Interfaith offers a HUD approved, first-time home buyer course.
Regional President of M&T Bank, Peter Newman, says the donation will be split up into $5,000 grants that people can apply for once completing the home buyer course.
President of M&T Bank, Peter Newman says, “So, people that have gone through the education program with Metro Interfaith Housing, to understand the process of being a first-time home buyer. And, this is going to help them, along with an interest free loan from Metro Interfaith Housing.”
Newman says that all 30 donation recipients were chosen by a committee of M&T employees.
Last year alone, the M&T Charitable Foundation awarded over $525,000 to nearly 100 local non-profits.
