Behaviour Interactive has unveiled exciting new developments for Dead by Daylight, including the announcement of two intriguing spin-off games. Among these, the most captivating project is being crafted by Supermassive Games, renowned for their exceptional storytelling in titles like Until Dawn and The Quarry. While specific details about this new game remain under wraps, it promises to enhance the immersive experience that Supermassive is celebrated for, potentially attracting both existing fans and new players to the franchise.
This new venture will take the form of a single-player interactive narrative game featuring a fresh cast of characters. According to Behaviour, players can expect “an intense narrative experience filled with powerful life-or-death choices set within the backdrop of Dead by Daylight.” More information about this thrilling project is anticipated later this year, as fans eagerly await further insights into its development and storyline.
The second spin-off currently in the works is a cooperative title being developed by Midwinter Entertainment, a studio that joined forces with Behaviour in 2014. Although this game is still in its early stages, it will delve into themes of greed and the insatiable desire for power. Players will have the opportunity to team up with up to three friends, which is sure to enhance the overall gaming experience and foster collaboration in tackling challenges within the game.
These two upcoming titles follow the release of Hooked On You, a unique dating simulation game set in the DbD universe that launched in 2021. Additionally, a film adaptation of Dead by Daylight is also in the planning stages. Behaviour and its partners are actively searching for a director and screenwriter to bring this cinematic vision to life, which could further expand the franchise’s reach into mainstream media.
During the DbD seventh anniversary showcase, Behaviour shared an abundance of new information. This included exciting collaborations for aesthetic content, featuring partnerships with iconic bands like Slipknot and Iron Maiden. Additionally, Ikumi Nakamura, the former creative director of Ghostwire: Tokyo, has contributed to the design of some DbD cosmetics, adding a unique flair to the game’s visual offerings.
On the gameplay side, the livestream provided a sneak peek at the upcoming DbD chapter, set to launch on June 13th. Titled ‘End Transmission,’ this chapter will introduce a sci-fi horror theme, complete with a new map reminiscent of Atropos from Returnal. The new killer character, known as The Singularity, is described as “a monstrous amalgamation of restructured organic matter and machine parts seeking to become the perfect lifeform,” according to Behaviour. The accompanying survivor is named Gabriel Soma, a skilled professional who will add depth to the gameplay experience.
Over the next year, Behaviour plans to roll out a total of four new chapters, including ‘End Transmission,’ and two additional chapters that will feature a new set of licensed killers from various franchises. Furthermore, there will be two additional survivor-only chapters, and we already know that one of these survivors will be none other than Nicolas Cage.
This iconic actor will be portraying himself within the game, ensuring an authentic experience for players. Behaviour confirmed that they did not hire a sound-alike; Cage “was generous enough to record every grunt, scream, and exertion you will hear in Dead by Daylight,” as stated by Mathieu Côté, head of collaborations for the game, during a preview event. Fans can look forward to learning more about Cage’s involvement and character introduction on July 5th, which promises to be a highlight for many.
