BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Energy
ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) have signed a
joint communiqué in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Trend
reports citing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy.

Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, along with his
counterparts from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan,
endorsed several key initiatives in the communiqué.

The document supports the establishment of an OTS Energy
Coordination Committee, a Regional Center for Technologies and
Green Initiatives, and projects focused on green energy
corridors.

Additionally, the communiqué expresses the Turkic states’
readiness to actively participate in Energy Day at COP29 on
November 15.

Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are
members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), while Hungary,
Turkmenistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are
observer states.

In his speech in Bishkek, Parviz Shahbazov stated that the clear
strategic vision and resolute policies of the OTS leaders, aimed at
achieving significant success through the protection of rich
natural resources, the creation of energy and transport corridors,
and leveraging the potential from Central Asia to Europe, have
strengthened the status of the Organization of Turkic States.

Shahbazov highlighted the call of the President of the Republic
of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev that “The 21st century must be a century
of progress of the Turkic world”, as well as the efforts to
transform Central Asia, the South Caucasus and the Caspian into a
Union of Regions reflects the nature of relations between the
Turkic states.

“Azerbaijan’s trade with the member and observer states of the
organization exceeded $9 billion last year. These countries
invested $18.2 billion in our economy, while Azerbaijan invested
$20.3 billion in these countries,” he added.

“Intergovernmental Agreement on Strategic Partnership in Green
Energy Development and Transfer between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and
Uzbekistan is planned for the near future,” the Minister
emphasized, adding that there will be efforts to strengthen
cooperation in renewable energy with Kyrgyzstan.

“The forthcoming Investment Forum on Energy Transition for
Central Asian countries at COP29 will provide another opportunity
to showcase the progress of our collaboration in achieving the
goals of green energy,” Shahbazov concluded.
