(WIVT/WBGH) – A one man show took the stage at BOCES and spent the day giving educators some back to school motivation.
Duncan Kirkwood is a motivational speaker and was invited to Broome-Tioga BOCES to rally the faculty ahead of the new school year.
Kirkwood says BOCES’ theme for the upcoming year is ‘belonging’, so his presentation focuses on the difference between being a supporter and an ally.
“So if I can get them closer to the spark they had that first week they taught, back where they were excited with their lesson plan and decorate their room. If I can get them a little closer to that, what happens is, when the kids come in their room, they’re better for the kids. Which transforms this whole community,” says Kirkwood.
While Kirkwood’s main focus is educators and youth, he has also worked with prisons, universities, and traveling around the globe to promote his message.
