PERTH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A man was arrested in Amsterdam following a larceny investigation, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Richard Ruiz-Conyedo, 20, is facing multiple charges.
On March 12, the sheriff’s office received a report of a larceny in Perth. Police say Ruiz-Conyedo is accused of pumping over $500 worth of diesel fuel from a Perth gas station and leaving without paying.
With assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Ruiz-Conyedo was eventually pulled over in Amsterdam. Further investigation determined that he was allegedly driving an unregistered truck that was modified to carry extra diesel fuel while having a suspended driver’s license.
During Ruiz-Conyedo’s arrest, he was also reportedly found to be in possession of several forged credit cards. He now faces the following charges:

- 10 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument
- First-degree identity theft
- Second-degree reckless endangerment
- Petit larceny
- Third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation
The sheriff’s office claims that Ruiz-Conyedo is a Cuban citizen who in the U.S. illegally. He was arraigned on March 13 at Fulton County Centralized Arraignment and was released on his own recognizance.
