BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5. Iran’s Supreme Leader
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei took part in the voting of the 2nd
round of the extraordinary presidential elections held in Iran on
July 5, Trend
reports.
The Iranian Supreme Leader voted in mobile electoral district
No. 110, established in Tehran at the Imam Khomeini Shrine.
In a statement to reporters after casting his ballot, the
Iranian Supreme Leader expressed hope that the citizens of the
country will participate in voting and make the right choice.
Khamenei mentioned that the results of the voting tomorrow will
determine the president of Iran.
To note, the 2nd round of the extraordinary presidential
election started on July 5 at 08:00 local time in Iran, with 2
candidates – Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili – competing. The
duration of the election is 10 hours (if the Ministry of Interior
deems it necessary, the election time can be extended).
A total of 58,640 constituencies have been established in Iran
for the Iranian presidential election inside the country and 344
outside the country. 61.4 million voters are eligible to vote in
Iran’s presidential election.
According to the results of the first round of the early
presidential election, former Iranian Health Minister Masoud
Pezeshkian counted 10.4 million votes, the representative of Iran’s
spiritual leader in the Supreme National Security Council Saeed
Jalili, received 9.47 million votes, the Speaker of the Iranian
Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf – 3.38 million votes, and
former Minister of the Interior and Justice and conservative
Mostafa Pourmohammadi – 206,000 votes.
