JOHNSON CITY, NY – (WIVT/WBGH) A homeless man is accused of stomping a senior citizen in the head at the Johnson City Walmart and later fighting with cops at the police station.
J.C. Police arrested 33 year-old Angel Vasquez Sunday and charged him with assault, assault against a police officer, criminal obstruction of breathing and obstructing governmental administration.
Police say they were called to the J.C. Walmart shortly before 1 p.m.
According to witnesses and video footage, Vasquez randomly attacked a 69 year-old man, punching the victim to the ground and then stomping on his head.
The victim suffered cuts, bruises and swelling and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
While being processed at the police station, officers say Vasquez became extremely violent, attacking the cops and choking one of them.
Vasquez was eventually subdued and arraigned and sent to the Broome County Jail with bail set at $500.
