A brush fire on Saturday prompted Maui authorities to evacuate residents from a neighborhood of Lahaina, only a few miles from the site lately ravaged by blazes.
An evacuation order had been issued for a residential half of Lahaina within the hills above Kaanapali resort resorts, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency stated. The order was for an area round Anapuni Loop, the company stated in a put up on X, the social media platform previously referred to as Twitter.
Later, Maui County stated in an Instagram put up that firefighters had “stopped ahead progress of the fire.”
It wasn’t instantly clear how many individuals have been affected by the evacuation order.
At least 115 folks have been killed and a couple of,000 buildings destroyed when a wildfire tore by way of downtown Lahaina on Aug. 8. Minimal rains have pushed the area into drought.
