(WIVT/WBGH) – Emily Mackay is set to compete for gold in just six days, but for now she’s enjoying her time in Paris.
The Union-Endicott and Binghamton University graduate arrived in the Olympic Village last week in time for Friday’s opening ceremonies.
Over the last several days, Mackay has kept fans up to date on her journey via Instagram.
She has been busy training with fellow members of Team USA, supporting other athletes, and sight-seeing around the host city.
Binghamton University has been cheering Mackay on with video messages from President Harvey Stenger, the athletics department, and several of her teammates.
Mackay is the fifth BU student-athlete to make it to the Olympics. She is also the most accomplished female student-athlete in the university’s history.
Mackay competes in the first round of the women’s 1500 next Tuesday.
