Whitney Point, N.Y. (WIVT, WBGH) — The Broome County Parks Department on on Facebook that as of Tuesday, the beaches at Dorchester Park will not be available to the public due to an algae bloom.
The park’s department is working on a solution to the algae bloom, to ensure safety for park visitors. It is unclear when the beach will reopen.
The park committee says the public will be notified as soon as it is safe to swim again.
While it is unsafe to swim, the boathouse will remain open. In the meantime, Nathaniel Cole Park and Greenwood Park will remain open.
