TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A local business received some funding to expand their reach in the Capital Region. DeFazio’s Pizza in Troy was awarded $50,000 in federal COVID relief funds.
DeFazio’s is using the money to open a new, expanded restaurant near Fourth and Liberty Streets. It’s just a couple of blocks away from their current location.
The owners said the new one will have more seating and an extra oven. They see it as a gathering place where they can bring the community together.
“Having the roots here, we’re not going anywhere, and we, hopefully, will continue to do more projects in the future and just continue to be a staple,” Matthew DeFazio said.
City leaders awarded a total of $1 million in federal COVID relief funds to 22 businesses to help them recover from the pandemic.
