BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — A fentanyl-related death of a 13-month-old infant in April has a Binghamton woman facing a manslaughter charge.
Tiease Cooper appeared in Broom County Court on May 15 where the indictment against her was unsealed, charging her with manslaughter, criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child for the tragic death of a child back on April 7 or 8.
Cooper, 40, is accused of knowingly having and allowing fentanyl to be out in the open of a residence at 77 Saratoga Avenue in Binghamton which led to the 13-month-old ingesting fentanyl and later passing away.
Cooper entered a not guilty plea to each count and was released under the supervision of the Pretrial Release Program, with specified conditions of release.
