BINGHAMTON, NY. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Greater Binghamton Airport is saying goodbye to Avelo this weekend as the discount airline’s final flight from the airport is scheduled to take off.
In July, Avelo announced that it was permanently terminating its flight service from Binghamton to Orlando International Airport after taking what it called a seasonal pause during the month of May. When it resumed flying on June 6, it switched its flight days to Sundays and Thursdays.
Avelo Head of Brand and Communications, Jim Olson said data showed the BGM-MCO route was not profitable, leading to the decision to cancel the services.
Avelo will fly from Binghamton to Orlando Thursday afternoon before taking its final flight out of BGM on Sunday at 11:40 a.m. An incoming flight will land at 11 a.m.
The only remaining flight out of Binghamton will be Delta Airlines connecting flights to Detroit.
